The following Anchorage area construction projects and events will cause traffic delays this week.

1) Anchorage July 4th Celebration (Downtown Area)

On Friday, July 4th between 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM, drivers should expect multiple full road closures in the downtown area for the Anchorage July 4th Celebration. The following roads will be affected:

9th Ave. and 10th Ave. between C St. and P St. (full closure between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM for parade route)

9th Ave. between L St. and E St. will be closed from 7:00 AM through 4:00 PM. for park strip activities.

The cross streets of A St, C St, E St, I St. and L St. between 9th Ave. and 10th Ave. will have APD-operated traffic control. Please follow officer instructions and/or use alternate routes.

To avoid delays during these times, drivers headed northbound into the downtown area should use A St. or Ingra St. Southbound traffic from downtown should use C St. or Gambell St.

2) Old Seward Hwy. at 100th Ave.

Expect intermittent lane shifts and closures on Old Seward Hwy. at 100th Ave. for road improvements and traffic signal installation. 100th Ave. between King St. and Old Seward Hwy. will also have intermittent closures. Local businesses will maintain limited access.

3) Arctic Blvd. between W. 56th Ave. and W. 58th Ave.

FUTURE CLOSURE: Beginning Friday, July 11 at 8:00 PM through Monday, July 14 at 6:00 AM, drivers should expect a full road closure on Arctic Blvd. between W. 56th Ave. and W. 58th Ave. for underground utility improvements. Please follow appropriate detour routes. 58th Ave. business access will be allowed during the closure period.

4) Strawberry Rd. between Jewel Lake Rd. and Northwood Dr.

Expect intermittent full road closures on Strawberry Rd. between Jewel Lake Rd. and Northwood Dr. for road improvements. Flagging operations and single lane closures will also be in intermittent effect. Residential access will be maintained. Please follow appropriate detour routes.

5) E St. between W. 5th Ave. and W. 6th Ave.

Expect a full road closure on E St. between W. 5th Ave. and W. 6th Ave. through Monday, July 14 for pedestrian and road improvements. Please follow appropriate detour routes.

6) Glenn Hwy. at Bragaw Street Interchange

Expect a full road closure on Bragaw St. between E. 2nd Ave. and E. 4th Ave. for the Glenn-Bragaw interchange construction activities. Please follow appropriate detour signs and use caution.

FUTURE CLOSURE: The Glenn Hwy. from Gambell St. to Boniface Pkwy. will be closed Friday, July 11 at 8:00 PM through Monday, July 14 at 6:00 AM.

There are no construction activities scheduled from Friday, July 4 to Monday, July 7.

7) Chugiak Lions Club 4th of July Parade (Eagle River)

On Friday, July 4th between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM, drivers should expect a full road closure on the Old Glenn Hwy. between South Birchwood Loop and North Birchwood Loop for the Chugiak Lions Club 4th of July Parade. APD officers will perform traffic control duties. Please follow officer instructions and follow appropriate detour routes.

8) F St. between W. 6th Ave. and W. 7th Ave.

Expect a full road closure on F St. between W. 6th Ave. and W. 7th Ave. for road, sidewalk and intersection improvements. All businesses will have access and alternate pedestrian detour routes will be provided. Please follow appropriate detour routes, via 6th Ave. to C St., and use caution.

9) W. 100th Ave. between Bayshore Dr. and Endeavor Cir.

Expect short delays and traffic lane shifts on W. 100th Ave. between Bayshore Dr. and Endeavor Cir. for road and sidewalk improvements. Please follow flagger instructions and use appropriate detour routes. Residents will maintain access, but should expect delays.

10) Fireweed Ln. and Latouche St. Road Improvements

Expect intermittent single lane and full road closures and flagging operations on Fireweed Ln. between New Seward Hwy. and Bannister Dr. and on Latouche St. between Northern Lights Blvd. and Fireweed Ln. for road construction activities. Please follow appropriate detour signs and follow flagger instructions.
