Residential Parking Permit Program

The Residential Parking Permit Program is used by residents of a particular neighborhood to assist in controlling the parking in their neighborhood. The requirements and procedures to be used in setting up this program in your neighborhood are found in Anchorage Municipal Code 9.65.

Currently, there are four residential areas in
Anchorage that have their residential parking permit program approved. The four areas are: Fairview, South Addition, Bootlegger’s Cove and College Village.  Each residential area requires an annual permit to be displayed on vehicles that are parked on street Monday – Friday,   Vehicles parked on street in these areas without a permit are subject to parking citations issued by the Anchorage Police Department.  Only residents of the area may obtain a permit to park in the designated area.

Residential parking permits are valid from September 1 through August 31 of the following year.  Permits must be renewed by October 1 each year at a cost of $12.00 per year.  To obtain or renew your permit, you must present two forms of verification of residence to Customer Service.  Common items used for verification are utility bills, lease/mortgage agreements, and/or current driver’s license.

If you fulfill the requirements and want to purchase a residential parking pass, please complete the
Residential Parking Agreement, and bring it along with your two forms of verification to Anchorage Parking.

If you wish to set up a residential parking permit program in your neighborhood, you may contact the Anchorage Parking Administrative Manager for the information you will need to get started.
