The Municipality of Anchorage participates in the State of Alaska, Division of Retirement & Benefits’ Retirement System plan.
Employees hired into a PERS position prior to June 30, 2006, are members of the Defined Benefit Plan (or Tier I, II, III). Employees hired into a PERS position on or after July 1, 2006, are members of the Defined Contribution Plan (or Tier IV).
Police/Fire employees hired into a Public Safety PERS position prior to June 30, 2006, are members of the P/F PERS. Police/Fire employees hired into a Public Safety PERS position on or after July 1, 2006, are members of the Defined Contribution Plan.
AN “ORIGINAL”, SIGNED BENEFICIARY DESIGNATION FORM MUST BE ON FILE WITH THE STATE OF ALASKA TO BE VALID. You may update your Beneficiary at any time. If you are married and you do not designate your spouse as sole primary beneficiary, the consent portion of the form must be signed by your spouse and notarized. Forward only original-signed forms to Employee Relations, to the attention of Records & Benefits.
