About
The Anchorage Museum, located downtown at 121 W. 7th Avenue, has permanent exhibits focusing on the art, history, and cultures of Alaska and rest of the polar North.  The Museum also hosts traveling exhibits from all over the world each year. The Museum is the home to many youth oriented exhibits throughout the year. For information on youth exhibits currently at the museum, click here. Most of the youth exhibits at the museum combine art with a familiar concept or group of objects, such as music in art, toys in art, and art made from found objects. Visiting the Museum
The museum is open to the public Wednesdays through Sundays in the winter and every day of the week in the summer. Anyone under the age of 18 is admitted free (with a $2 suggested donation). For more information about hours and entrance fees, 
click here. The Museum is happy to accommodate school groups, ask your teacher to contact the Museum if you would like to visit with your class.

Exhibits and Galleries
The Museum hosts traveling exhibits from all over the world. Additionally, they have a children’s gallery which hosts a new exhibit for youth every few months. The Museum also has the permanent Alaska Gallery, which displays more than one thousand objects and is the foremost presentation of Alaska history in the state. Finally, the Museum also has the permanent award-winning Art of the Far North and Contemporary Alaska Native Art exhibit.  For more information about exhibits currently on display, visit the

Art Classes (website)
Each year the museum has three sessions of art classes for both kids and adults. In the winter, the classes meet once a week for ten weeks. In the summer the classes meet all day long for a single week. Many different classes are available each session, for more information visit the museum’s
