Office of Equal Opportunity Volunteer Internship

Description of Major Duties
The Municipality of Anchorage is looking for a college student that is willing to learn about office administration within city government. This is a volunteer office administrative internship that will introduce the applicant to the many aspects of city government while working in the Office of the Mayor, Office of Equal Opportunity. The duties for this internship will include assisting with special diversity projects/events, assisting with data input and setting up various data base projects, attending meetings when possible, drafting forms and fliers to market special projects/events, drafting communication to the participants participating at the various events, organizing and taking notes at events.
Length of Internship
Determined by intern supervisor after interview.

Ability to work with diverse groups

Ability to communicate on a professional level each day.

Must be committed to working one to two hours after school (must meet the required 120 hours of work during the semester).

Ability to work in a team environment

Have basic knowledge of MS Word.

Basic typing skills.

Familiar with conducting internet research.

Ability to work independently.

Punctuality and reliability when work schedule contract is signed.

Ability to adhere to confidentiality agreement

Have personal transportation.

Eligibility
Applicants must have at least a 2.0 GPA and currently enrolled as a full-time university student.
