Anti-Gang and Youth Violence Policy Team
Working toward practical and sustainable solutions to reduce youth violence
The Anti-Gang and Youth Violence Policy Team was created in response to the recommendations from Mayor Begich's Community Youth Violence/Gang Response Team and the November 2006 Anti-Gang and Youth Violence Summit. The Summit was sponsored by the U.S. Attorney's office and the Tri-Borough Commission, which represents the mayors of Anchorage and the Kenai Peninsula and Matanuska-Susitna boroughs.
The Policy Team consists of 20 members, including the Tri-Borough mayors and representatives from the U.S. Attorney's office, Alaska Judiciary, Alaska District Attorney's office, Anchorage Prosecutor's office, criminal defense practice, law enforcement, school districts, local non-profit agencies, faith-based organizations, and other community organizations. The Policy Team meetings are open to the public and are held the third Friday of each month from 10:00am - 12:00pm in the Mayor's Conference Room, 8th floor of City Hall (632 W. 6th Avenue).
