July 2004

Dear Anchorage resident:

We’re pleased to provide this State of the City report covering my first year as your mayor. A printed version was included in the July 19, 2004, Anchorage Daily News and limited extra copies are available from my office.

As you’ll see here, I believe we have considerable reason for optimism about Anchorage’s future. Working together, we are trying to deliver city services smarter and more efficiently, and we’re pushing ahead on long-delayed economic development projects.

I welcome any comments on this report or other city issues affecting you. Please take a few moments to complete the survey on the last page. And please review on Page 11 the many ways you can become involved with your community.

Sincerely,

Mark Begich
Mayor
