A Word From The Chair
Blue Line

Welcome to the Senior Citizens Advisory Commission (SCAC) Website.  My name is AnnaBell Stevens, SCAC Chair. . The Commission, established by the Anchorage Municipal Commission in 1976 is dedicated to meeting the needs of today’s senior citizens and their families. Doing so requires innovation, cooperation, and resolve.  We can look back at the Commission’s AnchorageSenior Study 2000 and Action Plan 2006-2007, with a true sense of accomplishment. Looking ahead, the Commission has an even larger task, focused on providing services to a rapidly increasing senior population. I am confident that we can continue to serve our community with your help.   Please let us hear from you; your concerns and solutions are vital to our efforts.

In Memory Of Ron Hammett, SCAC Commissioner

On October 24, 2004, we lost an extraordinary SCAC Commissioner, a beloved humanitarian, and a respected friend, Ron Hammett, in his battle with cancer.  Ron had an incomparable record of public service in Alaska and in Washington State.  He had an unparalleled passion as an advocate for seniors. He served with quiet wisdom, well-chosen words and a clear focus on human need.    Our sympathy is extended to Jean and his friends and family for this great loss. He is greatly missed.
