- The Department of Health & Human Services and Anchorage Police Department are cooperating to enforce the ordinance.
- When complaints about a business are made to the Department of Health & Human Services, two warning letters will be sent out to businesses. Repeated, confirmed complaints will be referred to a code enforcement officer or the APD.
- Those not complying with the new law are subject to fines up to $500 per violation, civil penalties up to $1,000 per violation, injunctive relief or criminal penalties.
- It is unlawful for any person to smoke in any area where smoking is prohibited. Those who fail to comply are subject to fines up to $500 for each violation, civil penalties up to $1,000 per violation, injunctive relief or even criminal penalties.
