Dear Neighbors, My husband often marvels at what a wonderful community he has the opportunity to serve, and I am very pleased to be able to support him as Anchorage’s First Lady.  We both value the characteristics that make Anchorage a great place to live and raise a family—the awesome grandeur of our natural surroundings and the endless opportunities that lay before our relatively young community.  The icing on the cake is the spirit and enthusiasm of the dynamic, creative and caring people who call Anchorage home!  Serving in the capacity of Anchorage’s First Lady, opportunities arise to try to make a difference for the people of Anchorage.  The First Lady Military Family Support Initiative is a project I have started out of respect and concern for the hundreds, soon to be thousands, of families affected by the massive troop movements that have occurred during my husband’s term.  Please take a moment to read about the initiative and consider making a contribution to help the agencies that are doing a tremendous job supporting our military brothers and sisters and their families.  As more and more troops are deployed and redeployed, resources run thin, but the needs escalate.  Pulling together as a community to support these efforts is another very substantial way to show we support our troops, we recognize their sacrifices and we will do what it takes to keep their families strong while they are gone.
