Current Division Projects 

The current Girdwood Area Plan (GAP) was adopted in 1995 and is intended to provide broad policy guidance for land use and development. Staff time permitting, work on the GAP Update may resume in the fourth quarter of 2012.

The Turnagain Arm Comprehensive Plan update was adopted by the Anchorage Assembly in December 2009. Documents are available for $17 at the Planning Counter of the Planning and Development Center, 4700 Elmore Road, Anchorage.

This project will assess the estimated impacts and risks to hypothetical development in the downtown area due to a major earthquake and will propose land use regulations to mitigate these risks.

The Midtown District Plan is a vitally important step-down plan that will bridge the gap between the vision and goals set forth in Anchorage 2020 and the implementation elements necessary to make that vision a reality.

The Anchorage Bowl Land Use Plan Map is intended to be a guide for future city growth and development.

The West Anchorage District Plan was adopted by the Anchorage Assembly on July 10, 2012, and is a vital step-down plan that will bridge the gap between vision and goals set forth in Anchorage 2020.

The Economic Impact Analysis (EIA) is a technical report intended to assist with the review of the Title 21 Rewrite Public Hearing Draft.

As a major implementation element of the Comprehensive Plan, the Title 21 Land Use Code is in the process of being re-written for the first time in over 35 years.

This project evaluates current and projected market conditions and determine to what extent the current land supply available for commercial development meets the projected need to year 2030 and beyond.

The municipal East Anchorage District Plan (EADP) process began on March 5, 2012.

Anchorage was one of the first communities in the country to adopt a local wetlands management plan. Originally adopted in 1982, this plan maps and provides management strategies for every freshwater wetland in the Municipality.

This plan will provide a framework for continued development of educational, health, housing, commercial, and public infrastructure and programs for the UMED District.
