Library
The Anchorage Municipal Libraries serve you from the central Z. J. Loussac headquarters and five branches--three in Anchorage, one in Eagle River and one in Girdwood. From books to book sales; magazines to meeting rooms; reading niches to reference sources; story times to symposia, the libraries are there for all your information needs.
Museum
The Anchorage Museum of History and Art is located in downtown Anchorage. It offers the opportunity to see splendid objects from Alaska's exciting past and present. The largest museum in the state, the Anchorage Museum contains over 93,000 square feet of space. The collections and exhibitions, lectures, films, children's programs and special events attract more than 250,000 residents and travelers each year. The Alaska Gallery displays more than one thousand objects, which portray the history of the people of Alaska. Other galleries provide space for the Museum's art collection and temporary exhibits. Children enjoy their own Children's Gallery exhibitions, classes and special events. The Anchorage Museum Shop offers a wide selection of books, cards, and Native arts and crafts. The Marx Bros. Cafe at the Museum features marvelous lunches, desserts and coffee.

Parks and Recreation
The Parks and Recreation Department schedules facilities, recreation programs and special events. Parks, picnic shelters, trails, sledding hills and ball fields offer outdoor enjoyment while recreation centers, pools and chalets provide indoor opportunities and meeting spaces. Featured special events include the Canine Frisbee Championships, Tuesday Night Race Series beginning each September and the Mayors Midnight Sun Marathon in June. The division maintains 191 parks as well as hundreds of miles of bike, walk and ski trails.
