The Department of Neighborhood’s Weatherization Program serves over 200 low-income residents of Anchorage each year. Using grants earned through the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) , the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) and the United States Department of Energy (DOE) , the Department of Neighborhoods can help improve the health and welfare of your home with our energy efficiency and safety upgrades. What we do:  Determine causes of household drafts and heat loss Provide cost reducing energy tips Provide home improvements for winter months, including; heat, safety, health, and comfort related improvements Test and tune heating systemts Air-seal homes Seal heating ducts Install smoke and carbon monoxide detectors Eligibility Criteria Eligible participants must meet federal low-income criteria, live within the Municipality of Anchorage, and be up-to-date on your Municipal taxes. Participants may either own or rent the dwellings for which they are requesting weatherization services. Each dwelling is limited to one-time-only program participation unless prior upgrades to the dwelling were completed before September 30, 1993. Eligible participants must meet federally mandated limited income standards (see below), live within the Municipality of Anchorage, be up-to-date on your Municipal taxes, and hold less than $10,000 in liquid assets.  The domicile must be owner-occupied.
