Municipality Lowers Threat Level to Yellow
The federal government increased the national terrorism threat level to "orange," indicating a high terrorism threat level, from "yellow," indicating an elevated risk of terrorist attacks. The Municipality has also raised its threat level to "orange." The Office of Homeland Security describes the Orange Condition as:
High risk of terrorist attacks. The following measures may be applied:
- Coordinating necessary security efforts with armed forces or law enforcement agencies;
- Taking additional precaution at public events;
- Preparing to work at an alternate site or with a dispersed workforce
- Restricting access to essential personnel only
The Municipality of Anchorage is encouraging all citizens to be vigilant. Citizens serve as our strongest defense against terrorism so we ask that they continue to be alert for any unusual or suspicious activity in neighborhoods or workplaces. To report suspicious activity, call the Anchorage Police Department at 565-8600.
