Cost of Living Increases

There is an annual cost of living adjustment based on the National Medical Consumer Price Index percentage for the year ending the end of the third calendar quarter. The increase is effective in January of each year. The percentage increases for the years since inception of the Trust are as follows:

 2006   3.95% 2000   3.4%
 2005   4.49% 1999   3.6%
 2004   4.05% 1998   2.5%
 2003   4.6% 1997   3.8%
 2002   4.4% 1996   4.5%

 

There are four tiers in the Funding Program, based on the member’s years of service or, age at retirement. The tiers are explained as follows:

 

TIER AGE  Or Service

Annual Adjustment

1 60+ 25 Years 75% of the Medical CPI
2 55-59 and Vested 50% of the Medical CPI
3 50-54 20 - 24 Years 50% of the Medical CPI, Max of 6%
4 -50 0 - 19 Years 25% of the Medical CPI, Max of 3%
