GUN AND PROPERTY AUCTIONS
Anchorage Municipal Code 7.25, as amended and passed by the Anchorage Municipal Assembly (AO No. 2002-171) establishes the requirements for the disposition of property and evidence in the custody of the Anchorage Police Department. Any disposable property that is not claimed by the rightful owner, or finder, shall be forfeited to the Municipality of Anchorage as unclaimed disposable property.
Anchorage Municipal Code 7.10.030B establishes the authority and responsibilities of the Municipal Purchasing Officer to sell, trade or otherwise dispose of property belonging to the municipality.
Any unclaimed disposable property, subject to lawful possession by the general public, may be disposed of, under the authority of the Municipal Purchasing Officer in accordance with section 7.25.035. One or more of the following methods may be used:

Property with insubstantial market value may be destroyed or donated. (Donations of serviceable clothing and like items are currently provided to the community through the current contract with the "United Way of Anchorage".

Bicycles are donated in accordance with Assembly Resolution AR No. 81-226 and municipal code 7.25.035 through the current contract with the YMCA of Anchorage.

Illegal, perishable, or contaminated property is destroyed.
