Vehicle/Pedestrian Crash

Anchorage police are investigating a crash involving a pedestrian and a vehicle which occurred shortly after 2 p.m. today.

Witnesses say 15-year-old Candice Dunn-Kosusnik, an East High School student, ran southbound across Northern Lights Boulevard and was struck by an eastbound Ford Ranger pickup truck driven by Teresa Turnbull, 38, of Anchorage.

Dunn-Kosusnik was transported to a nearby hospital where she is in critical condition.

At this time there is not indication that the driver was at fault; however this case is still under investigation.  Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor, on the part of either party; however, the driver did submit to standard toxicology tests as required by law.

All lanes of traffic are open at this time.

Pedestrians are reminded to use cross walks at intersections when the pedestrian light indicates it’s safe to do so.
