Starting Salary:  $18.49/hr (as of July 2008)

Nature of Work:
Under direct supervision perform a variety of support functions relating to the receipt, catalog, storage, transfer and release of property and evidence in a warehouse type environment. Requires standing for up to 4 hours, bending, crawling, stooping, stretching, climbing ladders, work at heights up to 20 feet high, and consistently lifting and carrying 40 pounds a distance of 15 feet. Handle property and evidence collected containing hazardous materials, strong foul odors, pathogens and biohazard properties. Drive motor vehicles and operate a forklift. Adhere to strict evidence procedures and transport property and evidence to authorized individuals and entities. Testify in court as to property and evidence chain of custody. Utilize various office machines and other pieces of equipment. Answer telephones, e-mail and process requests for the return of property and resource items. Property administration to include accurate data entry into bar code tracking system. Complete forms and collect required signatures and approvals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Two years of any combination of experience in warehouse operations or inventory/supply administration, or storage and records management of equipment, property, and supplies.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Certification of ability to type at least 35 WPM must be less than one year old.
  • Must pass initial testing.

Preferred Qualifications:
Prefer applicants with experience or education in one or more of the
following: Chain of custody experience, Fork lift operator, and/or general
warehouse operations of receiving and storing property or documents.


Selection Process:

  • Initial testing for Property and Evidence Technician will consist of a Nelson/Denny Reading Comprehension Exam. Further testing will consist of a Personal History Questionnaire (preliminary to the background investigation), assessment interview, oral boards, and background investigation.
  • If selected, as a condition of employment, the person selected will be required to successfully complete a drug test prior to beginning work.
  • Must successfully pass the NCIC Operator Test to become a certified operator and obtain a forklift operator certification prior to the completion of the training program.

Hours of Work:
Applicants must be willing and able to work various shifts as determined by the supervisor.
