The Municipality of Anchorage solicited proposals from qualified consultants to conduct a seismic risk assessment for the downtown area. See the project page for related documents and other RFP information.

The Planning Department schedules Special Topics Brown Bag Discussions for the public.  These cover policies that implement Anchorage's Comprehensive Plan, Anchorage 2020. See the Public Participation page for current topics, dates, and locations.

Chapter 3 is scheduled for public hearing before the Assembly on December 16, 2008.

The Assembly provisionally adopted Chapters 5 and 6 in September. 

Chapters 7 and 14 await action by the Planning and Zoning Commission.  

Issue-Response Summaries are available for some sections of Chapter 7.

The Executive Summary and Addendum to the draft Economic Impact Analysis (EIA) of the Title 21 Rewrite became available in June. The EIA is a technical report intended to assist with the review of the Title 21 Rewrite Public Hearing Draft. The Executive Summary provides the key findings of the overall EIA. The Addendum completes the initial EIA report released in February 2008 by measuring the impacts of the proposed land use regulations on maximum building capacity.

The northeast Anchorage Wal-Mart and Sam's Club Site Plan Application is available online. A public hearing site plan review was held before the Planning and Zoning Commission on July 7.

The Assembly amended and adopted the new Anchorage Downtown Comprehensive Plan on December 11, 2007. The document is available for purchase at the Planning Counter at 4700 Elmore Road.  

As part of the Downtown Plan process, the firm Robert Odland Consulting is developing a revised Title 21 land use and development code for the central business district. Preparation of this revised Downtown code has begun, and a public review draft is expected to be released in early 2009.  Go to the project page to download documents and to learn more about the project and its schedule. 

The planning process for the Hillside District Plan (HDP) is underway.  The Municipality has hired MWH, an engineering and planning firm in Anchorage, as the lead project consultant.  For more information, see the project webpage.
