Road Project Traffic Delays

1. Muldoon Rd. btwn. 6th Ave. and 12th Ave.

Beginning Friday, May 24th at 8:00 PM through Tuesday, May 28th at 5:00 AM, drivers should expect a full road closure on Muldoon Rd. between 6th Ave. and 12th Ave. Please follow detour routes. Local businesses will maintain limited access.

2. Seward Hwy btwn. Tudor Rd. and Dowling Rd.

FUTURE RAMP CLOSURE: The Tudor Rd. northbound on-ramp will be closed from Friday, June 7th at 8:00 PM until Monday, June 10th at 6:00 AM. Please follow construction signs for detour routes.

No work Saturday, May 25th through Monday, May 27th in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.

Beginning Saturday, May 25th, be alert to new traffic patterns on the northbound lanes of the Seward Hwy. between the Dowling Rd. overpass and 36th Ave. Northbound traffic will be shifted to the west and the current northbound lanes will be under construction. Also during this time, the northbound Dowling Rd. on-ramp will be temporarily relocated on Brayton Dr. Please follow construction signs for detour routes and use extreme caution when traveling through the work zone.

Beginning Tuesday, May 28th, expect the following traffic impacts on Brayton Drive:

  • A three-way stop will be created at the intersection of Brayton Dr. and Mockingbird Dr. where the Dowling Rd. on-ramp will be temoporarily relcoated.
  • Access to and from Alpenhorn Ave. will be maintained with a two-way traffic pattern to Brayton Dr. between Alpenhorn Ave. and Mockingbird Dr.
  • Access to Becharof St. via Brayton Dr. will be closed during this time. Traffic will be permitted to exit Becharof St. via Brayton Dr. but will need to use the detour on Shelikof St. for incoming access.

Expect nightly lane restrictions btwn. 8:00pm and 6:00am on the Seward Hwy. between Dowling Rd. and Tudor Rd.

Expect daily and nightly single-lane traffic and flagging operations on Brayton Dr. btwn. Dowling Rd and Tudor Rd.

Please use extreme caution when driving through the construction zone. Be alert to reduced speeds of 45 mph btwn. Dowling Rd. and 36th Ave.

Be alert to construction signs and activities on the shoulder, and trucks entering and exiting the roadway.

3. Dowling Rd. btwn. C St. and Old Seward Hwy.

No work Saturday, May 25th through Monday, May 27th in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.

The Campbell Creek Trail crossing under Dowling Rd. is now open for use, though please use cuation throughout the construction zone.

Drivers should expect intermittent flagging operations and lane closures on Dowling Rd. from the Old Seward Hwy. to C St., Monday through Saturday, between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

The north side pedestrian pathway on Dowling Road between, C Street and Old Seward Highway, is CLOSED to the public through the winter. Pedestrians must use the pathway on the south side.

Be alert to construction workers on the roadway and shoulder.

4. Eklutna River Bridge at Old Glenn Hwy.

The Eklutna River Bridge at Old Glenn Hwy. is closed to vehicular traffic until further notice. Please use alternate routes.

Expected Completion: TBA

5. Girdwood Wastewater Treatment Facility Upgrade

Drivers should expect additional traffic around Girdwood this spring and summer as Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility resumes construction activity at its Girdwood Wastewater Treatment Facility on Ruane Road.

Truck traffic will increase mid‐April with the hauling of gravel from Portage, via the Seward and Alyeska Highways, to the treatment facility. The trucks may slow traffic while entering and exiting Girdwood.

6. Anchorage Market & Festival

Drivers should expect lane closures on W. 3rd Ave. between C St. and E St. from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM each Saturday and Sunday for the Anchorage Market & Festival. Please watch for pedestrians and use caution in the area.

7. Eagle River Road, MP 5.3 to 12.6

No work Saturday, May 25th through Monday, May 27th in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.

Drivers should expect intermittent flagging, pilot-car operations and lane restrictions, Monday through Saturday, from 8:30 AM t0 8:00 PM. During pilot-car operations, please obey all signage and wait for pilot car traveling in your direction.

Be alert to construction equipment and workers on the roadway and shoulder due to clearing operations.

8. Victor Rd. btwn. 100th Ave. and Dimond Blvd.

Drivers should expect delays from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, daily.

Beginning Friday, May 24th at 8:00 PM, expect single-lane traffic and delays for westbound traffic on Dimond Blvd. at the intersection with Victor Rd., through 12:00 PM on Tuesday, May 28th.

9. Glenn Hwy. Path Rehabilitation - Muldoon Rd. to North Birchwood

No work Friday, May 24th through Monday, May 27th in observance of the Memorial day holiday.

Expect periodic nightly closures between the hours of 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM from the Hiland Rd. exit and continuing to Muldoon Rd. Be alert to heavy equipment on the pathway.

10. Seward Hwy. MP 67 to 115

Expect daily lane restrictions and flagging operations from north of Lyon Creek Bridge to Potter Valley Rd. between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM, through October.

Be alert to heavy equipment and construction workers on the shoulder.

11. Boniface Pkwy. Overpass Resurfacing

FUTURE ROAD CLOSURE: Beginning Friday, May 31st, the Boniface Pkwy. overpass at the Glenn Hwy. will be closed to vehicle traffic from 7:00 PM to 5:30 AM for approx. 5 nights. During this time, please use the Muldoon Rd. overpass or the Bragaw St. overpass to cross the Glenn Hwy. The pedestrian pathway on the west side of the overpass will remain open at all times. Work is weather dependent.

12. Dimond Blvd. btwn. Jewel Lake Rd. and Seward Hwy.

Drivers should expect nightly lane restrictions and flagging operations from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

13. F St. btwn. 4th Ave. and 5th Ave.

Drivers should expect a full road closure on F St. between 4th Ave. and 5th Ave. for sidewalk improvements. Please use detour routes. Alley access will be available for Egan Convention Center traffic.

14. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. btwn. Elmore Rd. and Tudor Rd.

On Sunday, May 26th, from 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM, drivers should expect a full road closure on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. between Elmore Rd. and Tudor Rd. for an Arctic Bicycle Club event. Access to Chuck Albrecht ballfields will be provided.
