People Mover has joined social networking site Facebook by creating a Fan Page as an additional means of communication.
“After launching Bus Tracker (accessible at http://bustracker.muni.org/) earlier this summer, we also planned to join Facebook as the two online sites are excellent ways to provide transit users and supporters with information,” says Jody Karcz, Director Public Transportation.
Since People Mover launched its page in August, it has been posting information including reasons to ride, grant application opportunities, maintenance notices and the various ways riders can access bus information. Down the line, People Mover looks forward to using its Facebook Fan Page as a place for transit supporters to share ideas. As of today, People Mover has 130 fans.
People Mover has been carrying passengers for over 35 years. In 2008, it set a new annual record ridership of 4,220,677 trips, with an average weekday ridership of 14,297.
