People Mover Seeks Public Comment on Proposed Route Realignments

Public Transportation

4/10/2018

ANCHORAGE – The Municipality of Anchorage’s (MOA) Public Transportation Department (PTD) has released People Mover route realignment proposals and an operational change for the AnchorRIDES premium zone area in Chugiak/Eagle River for public comment.  The public comment period is from 4/4/18 – 5/7/18.

The routes affected are the neighborhood routes 11, 21, and 31. PTD regularly revises routes to recognize changes in travel patterns, improve on-time performance and serve the public better. These proposals are based on rider feedback collected since the implementation of the new bus service in October 2017.

PTD is also proposing transferring the operation of AnchorRIDES in the Chugiak / Eagle River premium service area to the Chugiak Senior Center. This transfer will improve the rider experience above current thresholds, as well as remove the duplication of service coverage that is currently offered by both PTD and Chugiak Senior Center. Additionally, the premium service area will increase and now incorporate the area between Hiland Road, north to Eklutna.

Concept proposals can be accessed online (peoplemover.org). Paper copies are available at Customer Service at the Downtown Transit Center and at any PTD public meeting. Copies are also available upon request.
