People Mover

Adopt-A-Stop

The Adopt-A-Stop program is a great way to get involved in the community. By adopting a bus stop, you can help make the community more beautiful while protecting the environment. Anchorage People Mover has 600+ opportunities for you to Adopt-A-Stop. Individuals, civic groups, private companies, public agencies, churches, students and scout troops are welcome to join in the effort to make our bus stops safer, cleaner and more accessible. Your participation will make our community a better place to live.

How to Adopt-A-Stop

You can fill out an application, email jeffery.barney@anchorageak.gov or contact Jeff Barney at 343-8239 for more information.

Why Adopt-A-Stop

Everyone Benefits

When you Adopt-A-Stop, you demonstrate civic pride and a concern for others, while you help clean up our community. Everyone benefits from this environmentally conscious program: transit riders, property owners, and the community in general.

Additionally, clean, well-maintained bus stops discourage criminal activity. By adopting a bus stop, you also become the eyes and ears of the community. You can help reduce vandalism and other crimes by keeping a vigilant watch over the area around your stop.

Adopt-A-Stop is Simple

Adopt-A-Stop volunteers agree to keep their designated bus stop(s) clean. This involves picking up litter, reporting damage and generally keeping the area around the stop(s) free of debris and unsightly clutter. Volunteers agree to call People Mover to inform us of graffiti or other concerns with their adopted stop. Click here to view a list of duties and safety tips, as well as a checklist to help you get started.

* Adoption is for one year, at which point People Mover will make contact to ensure the adopter wishes to remain in the program.
