Proposed Changes

Schedules

All Routes

Trip start and end times will be evaluated and adjusted as part of this service change to improve on-time performance and transfer opportunities. The new trip times and timetables will be available at least 30 days prior to July 1, 2019.

Route 40 Spenard/Airport

Weekday service is proposed to end at midnight. Currently, the Route 40 is the only route that operates until 2 AM. It is also proposed to operate as a loop. It will begin and end at the Downtown Transit Center. This will allow people coming and going to the airport to use any bus stop without having to re-board at the end of the trip when arriving at the south terminal bus stop.

Route 55 Lake Otis

It is proposed to operate every 30 minutes during the weekday instead of every 60 minutes.

Route 91 Huffman

Additional weekday trips are being proposed on the Route 91. Currently there are two trips during the weekday between 6:55 AM and 8:22 AM and two trips between 5:42 PM and 7:07 PM. Six trips are proposed between 7 AM and 10 AM and six trips between 4 PM and 7 PM.

Alignments

Route 55 Lake Otis

This route is proposed to be extended to the Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC).

Also, as part of this proposal, two bus stops will be reinstated at the intersection of Lake Otis Pkwy. and Waldron Dr. and this route will begin stopping at all the bus stops on Providence Dr. Currently, it does not stop at the bus stops in front of the Wendy Williamson Auditorium.

Route 65 Jewel Lake

This route is proposed to be rerouted to the Airport. It will no longer begin and end at the Spenard Rd. and Wisconsin St. intersection.

It is also proposed to operate as a loop that will begin and end at the Dimond Transit Center. Like the proposed Route 40 loop, this will allow people coming and going to the airport to use any bus stop without having to re-board at the end of the trip when arriving at the south terminal bus stop.

Other Changes

Routes 11, 21, 31, 41, 91 and 92

These routes are currently being operated by a contractor. Beginning July 1, 2019, they will be operated with bus operators employed by the Municipality of Anchorage, just like the frequent and standard routes. All routes will continue to be operated with the current size buses, except the Route 92. The two smaller buses on the Route 92 will be replaced with one larger 40' bus.
