Title 9 Rewrite

Introduction

Title 9 is the Municipality of Anchorage Traffic Code, providing the rules and regulations of the road.  The current code had its last major update in the 1990s and, since that time, we have seen changed driving conditions and new traffic issues have arisen.  Our goal is to work with the public, various agency staff and the Municipal Legal Department to have a complete title review completed in a timely manner. A 'Title 9 Stakeholders' committee has been formed and weekly meetings will begin in March.

On this site you will find the most current Title 9 rewrite information, as well as helpful links to assist our committee members in their task of assisting with the rewrite.

Meeting Schedule

All meetings will take place at the Municipal Planning & Development Center (4700 Elmore Rd.) unless otherwise noted.  Please see specific dates for individual conference room information.  Directions to the Planning & Development Center can be found here.

Revisit Definitions and Recommendation Summary

Traffic Code Update Recommendation Report

We will be using a Traffic Code Update Recommendation Report, which shows the section to be reviewed, the current language, the proposed changes and the reasoning for the change.  This information will, as much as possible, be prepared by anyone wanting to make a code change.  You can download a blank Recommendation Report below.

Traffic Code Update Recommendation Report (Excel)

Prior to each meeting, the Recommendation Reports for that particular meeting's topics will be sent to the review committee members.  The form will be updated and the final recommendation added so we can then track what happened to each request.

Please send all completed reports at least 48 hours prior to the next meeting to Shane Locke at lockesr@muni.org.

Following each meeting, we will also send all interested parties a status report on the meeting activities and a summary of any recommendations made.  Status Reports, when available, will be listed below.
