Join APD's Citizens Academy

The Anchorage Police Department is hosting its annual Citizens Police Academy Jan. 18 - April 19 in 2017. Applications are currently being accepted from residents who want to learn more about APD and how we serve our community. Applications are due on Friday, Dec. 9, 2016.

Learn to Use APD's Public Crime Mapping System

The online crime mapping system is a great way to know about reported crime in your area. Whether you are involved in your community council, a neighborhood watch group or Nextdoor, Community Crime Map allows you to see what kinds of crimes are occurring in your community.

  • The final training session for this year will be held on Saturday, December 10th from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Eagle River High School.

Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop, tablet or phone device and will be able to access Wi-Fi to actively learn how to use the online crime mapping system.

The Anchorage Police Department and the Alaska Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force are pleased to announce an incredible new tool to its staff – a four-legged, food and pet lover that plans to combat crime with his nose! APD is the first law enforcement agency in the state of Alaska to have an Electronic Storage Device (ESD) Detection K9. Read more here...$

Chief Christopher Tolley joins the Anchorage Police Department in October of 2015 bringing more than 30 years of public service in law enforcement experience to the department. In addition to being Chief of Police, Tolley is a husband, father and neighbor. Chief Tolley looks forward to working with our residents to grow our police force and implement community policing to create a safe, secure and strong community.
