APD Case Number: 14-508

Anchorage resident Carol Krieter died yesterday as a result of injuries sustained in a collision that occurred two weeks ago.

On January 3, 2014, at about 12:40 PM, Krieter, 60, was traveling eastbound on Rabbit Creek Road when she lost control of her vehicle and veered into oncoming traffic. Krieter’s Saab sedan collided with a westbound Lexus SUV on a curve near the intersection of Rabbit Creek Road and Bayview Drive . Krieter was transported by medics to a local hospital with serious injuries to her neck and leg. The driver of the Lexus, Candace Clawson, 52, was transported to the hospital with a non-life threatening injury to her arm. Carol Krieter succumbed to her injuries at about 2:00 PM on Friday, January 17.

Officers say the road conditions were extremely icy and were a contributing factor to the crash.
