Subject: REDDI Caller Helps APD Apprehend Felony DUI Driver

At 12:24 p.m. Anchorage Police Dispatch received a REDDI call reporting a gray SUV swerving all over the road, westbound on 5th Avenue. The caller safely followed the vehicle and reported the vehicle heading southbound on L Street. The caller reported the suspect vehicle hit a city People Mover bus at 10th Avenue and then left the scene. The caller continued to follow the suspect vehicle as it headed southbound on Minnesota. At 12:31 p.m. an APD Officer pulled the suspect vehicle over at 33rd Avenue and Minnesota. Officers observed the suspect driver staggering and then fall down after he exited the SUV. Empty alcohol containers were found in the suspect’s vehicle. The driver was taken into custody and transported to the Anchorage Jail for DUI processing.

The driver has been identified as 55-year-old Brian Vincent Cross of Wasilla and among his charges includes a felony DUI and refusal to submit. Cross has a revoked license and is on probation for felony DUI. His bail has been set at $25,000 cash or corporate with a third party custodian.

There were no reported injuries in the incident and minor damage to the city People Mover Bus.

The Anchorage Police Department would like to thank the REDDI caller who safely helped officers apprehend the felony DUI driver in this incident.
