Public Safety Notice: APD Asking Public to be Aware of Male Prowler in East Anchorage

Case: 13-42826

APD is asking the public for help in identifying a male suspect who has entered or attempted to enter ground-level residences where females were home alone in East Anchorage. A total of three incidents, with similar characteristics, have occurred in residential areas from south Mountain View extending south to Northern Lights within the last month. The most recent case occurred just after 4 a.m. Monday morning, where a female reported an unknown male in her bedroom. She told police she screamed and he fled the residence.

The suspect in these cases has been identified as a young male, in his early 20s, with a dark complexion, between 5’8” and 6’ with a thin build weighing between 130 to 160 pounds. He has been seen wearing dark clothing including a dark hoody and a dark doo-rag or beanie. Police believe the male suspect is using a bicycle to flee the scene.

The residences the suspect has unlawfully entered have all been ground level apartments; in two of them he made entry through glass sliding doors. All three of these incidents have occurred between 3:30 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. within the last month.

APD is asking anyone with information on the potential suspect or information on these cases to call police at 786-8900 or to remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers 561-STOP.

APD encourages the public to take safety measures including locking all doors and windows in your home, securing your keys and don’t leave your garage door opener in your vehicle. APD also asks the public to be vigilant, look out for your neighbor and report any suspicious subjects or activity to police.
