Subject: Police Respond to Reported Shooting in Chugiak
Case: 14-811

Anchorage Police Dispatch received a call at 4:00 p.m. this afternoon reporting a disturbance between two males where shots were fired near the entrance of a residence located on the 21000 block of the Old Glenn Highway. In their initial investigation, police found that two males had been in an altercation. During the altercation, one of the males brandished a firearm.

A scuffle ensued over the firearm. During the scuffle, an additional suspect, a female, struck one of the males over the head with a shovel. Meanwhile the firearm discharged. The male who was struck with the shovel was also grazed by one of the bullets. He was sent to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police have taken two subjects into custody. No arrests or charges have been made at this time. The incident is under further investigation.
