Anchorage Police are investigating a single vehicle collision resulting in the fatality of a 17-year-old male. Police Dispatch received a call at 3:23 a.m. reporting an SUV that had rolled multiple times on Commodore Drive near O’Malley Road. When police and medics responded they discovered two males who had been ejected from the vehicle and a female occupant who was able to get out of the vehicle. One of the males, who is 17-years-old, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other male occupant, who is 18-years-old and the female occupant, who is 16-years-old, were transported to a local hospital. The male is listed in critical condition and the female is listed in stable condition.
A preliminary investigation by police revealed that an SUV was traveling westbound on O’Malley and was approaching Commodore Dr. The vehicle lost control and started to roll, coming to a stop in the backyard of a condominium complex. The APD Traffic Investigation Unit is on scene to further investigate the single vehicle collision. The westbound lane of O’Malley between Lake Otis and New Seward has been shut down for a few hours, and police anticipate reopening the lane shortly.
