Subject:  Patient Care Technician Arrested for Sexual Abuse of Minor

Case Number:  13-48048

Detectives of the Anchorage Police Crimes Against Children Unit arrested a male Patient Care Technician and charged him with three counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor following allegations that he sexually assaulted a young girl while under his care.

The Patient Care Technician was employed at Providence Alaska Medical Center (PAMC) in the in-patient Pediatric Unit at the time of the alleged assault. The victim, a 14-year old girl, was a patient at the hospital and stated that on two occasions, Allen Kelly Miller, age 28, entered her room and sexually assaulted her.  The first assault occurred sometime in July 2013 and went unreported by the victim; the second assault was reported to PAMC staff who notified APD on November 1, 2013.

Miller had been employed with Providence Medical Center since January 2013 after having passed a background check. Miller told Detectives that prior to moving to Alaska, he worked in Oregon assisting full-care children and adults. He explained that “full care” meant that the hospital and nursing staff had to feed, bathe and clean the patients. Allen Kelly Miller is no longer a Providence employee.

APD Detective Torres arrested Miller on Nov. 4, 2013. He was charged with one count of Sexual Abuse of Minor 2, and two counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor 3.  He was taken to the Anchorage Jail where he is being held without bail.

Detectives believe there may be additional victims of Miller.  Anyone with additional information is asked to call Anchorage Police at 786-8900
