Case Number:  13-40735

Anchorage Police continue to investigate the serious assault of a young man who was found unconscious in an abandoned building at the 800 block of Barrow Street Monday night.

The victim has been identified as James Clinton, 18, of Anchorage.

SYNOPSIS:

On Monday, September 16, 2013, shortly after 8:00 PM, Anchorage Police responded to the University Police Department to retrieve an anonymous note that had been placed under their door.  The note indicated that the tipster wanted authorities to know about a teen who had recently been beaten and left to die inside an abandoned building.

Officers located the abandoned building and found the young man in the downstairs area.  He was transported by medics to a local hospital where he remains unconscious, in critical condition.

The abandoned building is owned by Covenant House and is scheduled for demolition today.  Detectives have gathered the evidence they need from the building, therefore the demolition will continue as planned.

Detectives are still trying to piece together who assaulted James Clinton and why.  Anyone with additional information is asked to call Anchorage Police at 786-8900.  Persons wishing to remain anonymous AND be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000 can call Crime Stoppers at 561-STOP or submit a tip online at http://www.anchoragecrimestoppers.com/.
