Subject: APD Seeks Information on Deceased Newborn Found in an Eagle River Park
On Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 9:34 a.m. Anchorage Police Dispatch received a report of a baby found by a citizen at Turner Park in Eagle River that was not breathing. It was reported that the baby was wrapped in a towel and appeared to be a newborn. Anchorage Police responded to the scene as well as Detectives and the Crime Scene Team to investigate the incident. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death of the newborn.
APD is trying to locate the mother of the newborn who may be in need of medical attention and encourages the mother to contact a local hospital. Anyone with further information on the incident is asked to call APD at 786-8900 or to remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers at 561-STOP.
