Subject: APD Investigates Strong–Arm Robbery of 76-year-old Man Doing Yard Work Outside Residence
Case: 13-45808

On Friday, October 18, 2013 shortly after 5:30 p.m. APD Dispatch received a 911 call to the 4500 block of Edinburgh Drive from a woman reporting that her husband had been hurt; she did not know how he had been injured, but conveyed a sense of urgency before disconnecting.  Medics responded and transported the man to the hospital, where the 76-year-old victim was interviewed by APD officers after learning that he had been the victim of a strong-arm robbery.

The victim reported three young light-skinned black males approached him at his residence as he was outside doing yard work and asked him for “donations for their team”. After the victim declined the subjects’ request, the victim turned around and next remembers awaking on the ground in “a pool of his own blood” as medics arrived.  The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries to his face and head.

The victim’s wallet, ring, and keys to his vehicle were also reported missing.

If anyone has any information relating to this incident, please call APD Dispatch at 786-8900 or, to remain anonymous, call Anchorage Crime Stoppers at 907-561-STOP (7867).
