APD Graduates 18 Recruits, Bringing Force to Over 400 Sworn Officers

Next Academy begins December with over 30 recruits

ANCHORAGE – Today, the Anchorage Police Department celebrated the graduation of 18 recruits from the police Academy. These recruits will now move to field training to learn on the job with a senior patrol officer.

“I am pleased to formally welcome our academy graduates to the next phase of their training with the Anchorage Police Department,” said Chief Justin Doll. “I also want to thank the Academy staff and Field Training Officers who have been working tirelessly to train our recruits as we have rebuilt the department over the past two years.”

In addition, officers who graduated in June from the last academy, are now finishing field training and hitting the streets as solo police officers.

The next Academy begins next month with over 30 recruits. Including the recruits graduating today and the start of the new academy, APD will have over 435 sworn officers.
