Subject: Update on Morning Death Investigation in Chugiak
Preliminary investigative findings indicate that the incident in Chugiak involving the two deceased persons is a homicide suicide.
At 4:03 a.m. 40-year-old Nita Kilapsuk called Police Dispatch to report a verbal argument with her boyfriend 49-year-old Michael Hagood. During the call, Kilapsuk told Dispatch that she wanted to leave the residence but Hagood would not let her and she reported that he had a gun. As officers were on their way to the residence, Dispatch lost contact with the caller. When officers arrived on scene at 4:10 a.m. they heard gunshots and found Kilapsuk and Hagood deceased inside of the residence. The two appeared to be the sole residents of the home and no other persons were located on the property.
Next of kin have been notified.

APD is investigating the deaths of two people at a residence located on the 21000 block of Valley Avenue in Chugiak. At 4:03 a.m. APD Dispatch received a call reporting a disturbance at the residence. When police responded at 4:10 a.m. they heard shots fired and located two deceased persons inside the residence. More details will be released as they come available.
