Subject: APD Asks for Public Help in Locating Sexual Assault Suspect
The Anchorage Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a sexual assault suspect. An arrest warrant has been issued for 56-year-old James Kim for one count of Attempted Sexual Assault in the First degree and one count of Sexual Assault in the Second degree. The accusation stems from a report by a female that he sexually assaulted her in late August of 2013.
When officers tried to make an arrest, James Kim was no longer at the residence where he had been staying. It was believed that James Kim had fled the area returning to Korea, but new information indicates that Kim is still in the Anchorage area, possibly staying with different residents who may not be aware of his activities. APD has also learned that Kim has been attempting to get a job on a fishing vessel.
James Kim is a 56-year-old Asian male, 5’7” tall and 160 lbs with black hair and brown eyes. He was driving a white 1995 Chevy Astro utility van, but it is possible it is no longer in his possession.
Anyone with information on the location of James Kim should contact APD at 786-8900 or can provide an anonymous tip through Crimestoppers at 561-STOP.
