 Woman Badly Injured in Stabbing

On 1-30-09 at 08:14 hours Anchorage Police Department Patrol officers were dispatched to a hotel room on the

700 block of East 34th Street to the report of a woman bleeding in the bathroom of the hotel room.  The report was made by Saliym Cureton who told dispatchers that the injured woman was his wife who he said had been cheating on him and he said that he had a knife in his hands.

When officers arrived, they located the woman with lacerations from an edged weapon, bleeding from her head, face, chest and neck. The victim was crying and then told police that she had been injured by “Saliym.”  The victim was immediately transported to a local hospital and taken into surgery.  She is expected to survive her wounds.

Saliym Cureton, a 28 year old Anchorage resident was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder and Violation of a Domestic Violence Restraining Order.  He was remanded to Anchorage Jail on $250,000 cash bail with a court approved third party custodian required for release.
