On 2-19-10 at 2100 hours The Anchorage Police Department Vice Unit was culminating a two week drug operation with the arrest of Anchorage resident, 26 year old Jayshon Moore in a business parking lot in the area of Boniface Parkway and Northern Lights Boulevard.  Moore had arrived at the scene in a Cadillac driven by 29 year old Anchorage resident, Timothy Welch.  As officers approached the suspects in order to affect the arrest, Welch rammed a blocking APD undercover vehicle driven by Detective Sergeant Padgett, and sped away.  Vice detectives and Patrol officers soon located the Cadillac abandoned in the area of Knights Way and Wesleyan Drive.  The suspects were seen running through the neighborhood and were apprehended in the 3900 block of Queen’s Drive where they both were taken into custody without further incident.  No injuries were sustained by police officers or the suspects.

After apprehending Welch and Moore, detectives served a search warrant on an apartment that had been used by Moore on the 300 block of West 32nd Avenue.  There were several adults and a small child in the residence.  Detectives determined that a female, 22 year old Jameeazhlyn Smith lived in the apartment with Moore and was in possession of cocaine.  She was arrested and a search of the residence yielded controlled substances and two handguns which were found in Moore’s bedroom.

Timothy Welch was charged with Assault 3rd degree, Eluding, and Criminal Mischief 3rd degree.  His bail was set at $20,000 plus Third Party Custodian.  Jayshon Moore was charged with 3 counts of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance 3rd degree and Misconduct Involving Weapons 3rd degree.  Moore’s bail was set at $20,000 plus Third Party Custodian.  Jameeazhlyn Smith was charged with Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance 4th degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Minor and Reckless Endangerment.  Her bail was set at $5,000.

Note: A criminal charge is merely an accusation of criminal wrongdoing.  All persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty by a court of law.
