Police Investigating Two Separate Incidents

SUICIDE/HOSTAGE CALL:
At about 12:10 this afternoon, Anchorage Police responded to a residence at the 6100 block of East 41st (near Baxter Road) in reference to a woman who was despondent, threatening to kill her five-year-old child, then take her own life.
Members of the APD SWAT team and APD negotiators responded and were able to end the situation peacefully. Baxter Road was closed between Tudor and Northern Lights at 1:13 and remains closed at the time of this release. It should be reopened very shortly. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
SUSPICIOUS DEATH CALL:
At about 12:39 this afternoon, Anchorage Police responded to the 11000 block of Polar Drive in reference to a suspicious death.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of the homeowner, a 44-year-old male, inside the residence who was deceased. At this point, detectives are not releasing information as to the cause of death.
The Anchorage Police Department’s Crime Scene Team was called to the residence to process the scene and collect evidence. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
