On 3-4-10 at 1600 hours Anchorage Police officers responded to the emergency room of a local hospital to the report of a patient with a gunshot wound.  Upon arrival, they contacted 27 year old Anchorage resident Jesse Kern who presented with a gunshot wound to his right leg.  Kern told officers that he had been walking on a bike path on the south side of Northern Lights Boulevard near East High School, when he encountered a group of about 6 Asian males.  A male he described as Samoan or Asian took a long gun from a dark duffel bag and fired the weapon at Kern, striking him in the leg.  He said that the suspect was 6’00” tall, weighed over 230 pounds, was wearing a black puffy North Face” jacket with a black hoody underneath, and black cargo pants. 

Police are searching the area for evidence and witnesses.  They request that any passers-by, or trail users who may have witnessed the shooting or may have seen the suspects, contact police immediately at 786-8900.
