Chief of Police Biography
February 1997 - January 2001
Duane Udland was born in Minot, North Dakota. He began his law enforcement career in 1972 with the Spokane County Sheriff's Office in Spokane, Washington. He worked in jail security, patrol and as a detective. In February of 1978 he moved to Soldotna, Alaska and continued his law enforcement career with the Soldotna Police Department. In July he was promoted to Sergeant, and on August 4, 1982 he was appointed Chief. In 1988 he accepted the Deputy Chief position with the Anchorage Police Department. February 1, 1997, Udland was promoted to Chief of Police and served until January 5, 2001.
After leaving the Department he went to work for NANA Development Corp. in charge of security.
