Name the New APD Dodge Charger
Meet the Newest Member of our APD Fleet!
The Anchorage Police Department was thrilled to accept a new 2014 Dodge Charger, generously donated by GCI and Anchorage Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Center, with the safety equipment provided by Alaska Safety Incorporated. The Charger has been outfitted to perform as a fully functioning police vehicle, and will largely be used at community events and as part of APD’s public education and awareness programs.
“We are very excited to welcome the newest – and arguably the fanciest – member of our fleet,” said Police Chief Mark Mew. “The safety and wellbeing of Anchorage is not just a police issue; it’s really everyone’s issue. This car is a collaborative effort between organizations that hold public safety as a priority, and it represents the importance of partnering with the community as we all work together to promote a safer Anchorage. We thank GCI and Anchorage Chrysler for this incredibly generous contribution to our department, and most importantly we appreciate their commitment, involvement and support of public safety and our community.”
The Charger Needs A Name!
We are asking Anchorage-area students to help us name the new ride. To submit your idea, pick up or download a coloring sheet that shows off the new car, and send it in by August 31, 2014.
Five participants will be chosen at random to receive a special school visit from the new APD Charger this fall!
