April 27, 1942, Leo Hall was appointed acting Chief of Police. Hall, 37, was born in Minnesota around 1906 and lived most of his life in Seattle and Tacoma. He came to Alaska around 1939 and had been on the Department since 1941 as a patrolman. The Chief of Police was paid $375.00 a month.
