Twice a year the Anchorage Parks and Recreation department publishes an Activity Guide to highlight the programs, activities and special events we have. The Summer Guide will include summer and fall programs while the Winter Guide will cover winter and spring programs. The Parks and Recreation operates many different programs and events throughout the course of the year. Our events really focus on bringing the public into our parks and finding fun and enjoyment through recreation. You an view our programs on ActiveNet such as Summer Camp, Ski Lessons, and Recreation Center programs.
Anchorage Parks and Recreation manages two recreation centers, two outdoor centers, a community golf course, a greenhouse and a campground. The Recreation Centers host a wide range of activities and programs throughout the year. Registration is available online through ActiveNet or by contacting the recreation centers.
The Municipality of Anchorage provides six indoor recreational and fitness pools, 5 in the Anchorage Bowl and 1 in Chugiak. Each pool offers a wide variety of programs such as open swim, lap swim, swim lessons, swim teams, special events and water aerobics.
