Anchorage Parks and Recreation

Fairview Recreation Center Indoor Inclusive Playground

PROJECT OVERVIEW

An indoor playground has been constructed within the Fairview Recreation Center, located at 1121 E. 10th Ave (Map). This will be Anchorage Parks and Recreation's first every indoor playground! This project has been realized through repurposing an under-utilized auxiliary gym at the Fairview Recreation Center and transforming it into an indoor inclusive playground intended for year-round use.

As part of these improvements, the following upgrades will be implemented:  Two formerly-gendered youth bathrooms have been renovated into two ADA-accessible family bathrooms; the breezeway connecting the main building to the auxiliary building has been upgraded to include ADA accessible doorways; the space containing the playground has been painted and underwent general safety upgrades to accommodate standards associated with American Society for Testing and Materials playground certification.
