 Current Projects Summary 

CDBG Projects

The Department of Neighborhoods works to revitalize neighborhoods, expand affordable housing and economic opportunities, and improve community facilities and services, principally to benefit low and moderate income persons through the use of Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) from the United States Department of Housing and Development (HUD) . By following the specifications given by CDBG, the Department of Neighborhoods, with the help of the people and communities of our municipality, has undertaken numerous successful projects, benefitting the Municipality of Anchorage and its people.

HOME Projects

HUD's HOME Investment Partnerships Program , provides grant and loan funding for affordable housing. The Department of Nieghborhoods is responsible for allocating HOME funds to various projects in the Municipality of Anchorage.

Emergency Shelter GRANTS Projects

The Municipality of Anchorage is a Grantee for HUD’s Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) program. It receives ESG funds annually that it can use to help prevent homelessness or provide support to homeless shelters. Although the Department of Neighborhoods is the coordinating entity for both the Continuum of Care and the Consolidated Plan, it passes ESG funds through to the Department of Health and Human Services. SAFE City program staff at the Department of Health and Human Services administer ESG for the City.
