How do I get my library card?
If you are an Anchorage resident, fill out a registration form and show your photo ID. Bring a postmarked piece of mail that confirms your address: Mail must be addressed to you, in the envelope and postmarked within the past 30 days (i.e. this month’s utility bill). Checks, paychecks, etc. are not accepted.
If you do not have a valid piece of mail, you will be issued an unverified card, which is good for 3 years with a 3-item check-out and 3-item hold limit.
If you are under 18, your parent or legal guardian must sign your registration.
Does my card expire?
Cards need to be renewed every three years.
Unverified cards expire after 3 years.
Youth cards permanently expire on the child’s 18th birthday, at which time, they may apply for an adult card.
If you lose your card, the first replacement is free; after that, it is $1.
