Senior Services
The Municipality of Anchorage has a thriving and growing senior population and is committed to enhance and support the quality of life of seniors through its senior services programs. Program coordinator (907) 343-4763.
Senior Services is responsible for:
- The administration of all aspects of Municipal services for seniors and their families.
- Raising awareness and promoting responsiveness to the current needs of seniors.
- Planning actively for future needs of an aging population to assure Anchorage is a good place to grow up and grow old.
Senior Services Program
The Municipality serves seniors and their families throughout Anchorage from Eklutna to Girdwood to assure senior citizens in our community have full access to information, support and activities. Municipal and state grant funding supports the following programs:
- Aging and Disabilities Resource Center - an unbaised place for information and assistance regarding long-term care needs for older adults, persons with disabilities and their caregivers living in the anchorage bowl. (907) 343-7770.
- Anchorage Senior Activity Center - Municipal owned facility,operated by Anchor-Age, Inc. (907) 258-7823.
- Chugiak - Eagle River Senior Center - Municipal owned facility, operated by Chugiak Senior Citizens, Inc. (907) 688-2677.
Senior Services provides staff support to the Senior Citizens Advisory Commission. The Commission creates public awareness of the needs of seniors citizens and promotes special events to celebrate and enhance the lives of seniors in Anchorage.
